People in Australia love koalas and take care of them. When a koala is born, he is very small and has no fur. The mother koala has a pocket in the front of her body. The baby goes into this warm pocket. There he stays for six months.

The koala could not live without a special kind of tree. For most of the day the koala sleeps in the tree. At night he looks for food. He likes only the bark and leaves of the tree. He eats nothing else. And he eats more than two pounds each night!

Hello, everybody. Today I want to give you some tips in case there are any natural disasters or accidents.

If your building is on fire, don't hide. Try to get out as soon as possible. Cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel to protect yourself from thick smoke. Stay low to the ground. Don't go back into the building on fire. It's dangerous.

When there's a flood, you should get to high ground and stay there. Don't walk through the flood water. It may wash you away.

When an earthquake happens, you should hide under a strong desk or table to protect yourself. Don't stand near a window, or you may get hurt.

Traffic accidents happen every day.  We should always follow traffic rules. When crossing the road, look left, right and then left. Moreover, don't sit, walk or ride your bicycle on railways.

That's all for today's talk. I hope you have learnt a little more about how to keep yourself safe.

P49 Part A1

Suzy: Shall we make a fruit salad, Amy?

Amy: Good idea. What kinds of fruit should we use?

Suzy: Usually we use fruit like apples, strawberries and grapes.

Amy: Shall we add some bananas?

Suzy: Sure. You can add your favourite fruit.

Amy: Are watermelons OK?

Suzy: Watermelons have too much water. We'd better not use them to make a salad.

Amy: What else do we need?

Suzy: A bowl, a spoon and some salad cream.
